It is that time of year again when we reflect on things for which we are thankful.
I could get all maudlin right now and spit out inspirational quotes lifted from the halls of some anonymous AA meeting or on the wall of any psychiatrist’s or sporting coach’s office around the world.
But I am not going to waste my time nor yours in reading empty words that somehow always find their way into the community discourse at this time of year. Whether it is up here in Canada (Thanksgiving is in October up here on the very same day Americans celebrate the ghastly holiday whitewashed and renamed as “Columbus Day.”)
Rather, I am just going to say to those of you who have been there for me during my difficult transition from abused spouse to free woman north of the border….Gratitude is Everything.
At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. – Albert Schweitzer.
